 The First State of Youth Report uses an intersectional strategy to show how young people are faring across Canada in relation to the six pillars for youth in Canada's Youth Policy as well as newly emergent problems brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic. AIM DIRECTIVES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The 17 SDGs address issues like poverty, inequality, climate change, as well as those pertaining to peace and justice. They also address other global difficulties. We at State of Youth utilise the SDGs as our compass when deciding which issues to highlight on our platform and as the focal point of our attention and vision.

Children frequently are not included at the table when discussing these concerns. Thus, our platform aims to empower and inspire kids to take the lead in making changes that will ultimately have a significant impact on their future. In order to achieve this, we concentrate on one SDG per quarter and examine it from several perspectives in the hopes of promoting knowledge, advocacy, and action on the subject.

PREFERENDUM

We hold referenda four times a year to ensure that children's voices are heard. We encourage the global young community to vote on potential SDGs solutions during these quarterly referenda. Next, in order to demand change, we distribute the findings to decision-makers throughout the world.

PROGRAM OF CHAPTERS

Online and offline action must coexist in order to build a youth movement that is sustainable. The Chapters initiative seeks to empower youngsters in their local communities to take action locally. The programme collaborates with kids to build a society where kids' rights are protected and the Sustainable Development Goals are achieved.

Engagement

The Status of Youth Report was created with the assistance of around 1000 young people from coast to coast, including:

 

· Black, Latinx, Asian, First Nations, Inuit, and other racialized youth

· Francophone and youth from official language minority cultures that identify as LGBTQ2

· adolescents with disabilities

· young people who reside in urban, rural, or distant areas

· Advisory Committee for Youth

The section of the report titled "The Status of Youth in 2021 - In Their Own Words" was written by a Youth Advisory Group. The group collaborated to provide voice to the numerous youth involved in the process, and they took advantage of the chance to offer several suggestions.

13 young people from various backgrounds, genders, nationalities, ages, and life stages made up the group. The members provided guidance on the style and presentation of the Report to make sure it is accessible and speaks to all youth in Canada. They also examined and analysed the data acquired during the engagement sessions to ensure that the viewpoints of young people are heard and honoured. In addition to writing the Report's main sections, this group offered suggestions on how the Canadian government may keep up its communication with young people.
